The AI Buffet is an initiative of the RMAIIG Education Sub-group. It brings K-12 students, parents, teachers, mentors, and community members together for immersive, hands-on AI experiences.

Partnered with CU Boulder’s badging team, attendees can earn digital credentials and micro-badges by taking part in activities and micro-trainings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this event for?

The AI Buffet is open to everyone curious about artificial intelligence — especially K–12 students, teachers, parents, and mentors. College students, faculty, and community members are also encouraged to participate. Our goal is to make AI learning approachable, hands-on, and fun for all ages and backgrounds.

What’s the format?

Think of it like a science fair meets a tech playground. The CU Aerospace building will be filled with stations where participants can learn by doing, exploring AI robotics, app and website building, creative media tools, and more. You’ll get to move between stations, try things out, and talk directly with the students, faculty, and mentors leading each activity.

Do I need to know anything about AI beforehand?

Not at all! The AI Buffet is designed for every level of experience, from total beginners to advanced learners. Each station is structured to meet you where you are, you can watch, participate, ask questions, or dive right in.

Is there a cost to attend?

No! The AI Buffet is free and open to the public. We just ask that participants RSVP so we can plan space and materials accordingly.

How do I sign up?

A tiered RSVP process will open soon. K–12 students, teachers, and mentors will get first priority, followed by general community members. Keep an eye on the event page for details.

Will I get any kind of certificate or credit?

We’d love that! Reach out through the Volunteer/Showcase Interest Form on the event page, and we’ll follow up to learn more about your project.

Who’s running the event?

The AI Buffet is an initiative of the Rocky Mountain AI Interest Group (RMAIIG), hosted at CU Boulder. It’s made possible through collaboration among CU students, faculty, and local mentors who are passionate about sharing the excitement of AI with the community.

What if I want to showcase my own AI project?

We’d love that! Reach out through the Volunteer/Showcase Interest Form on the event page, and we’ll follow up to learn more about your project.
